One Degree Organic Foods built their brand on trust and traceability. Customers could find out everything about their products from farm to shelf, including where the ingredients came from, what batch they went into, and how they arrived at the store. They entered into a Drawbackwards subscription to get help telling that story on their packaging, website, and app, which helped them land nationwide, auto-ship contracts with Whole Foods and Sprouts.
“We went from a startup to a national brand that’s carried in Whole Foods and Sprouts stores across the U.S. and Canada. From the beginning, Drawbackwards was by our side to plan, design, and build our brand, packaging, website, and mobile app — key ingredients in helping us tell our story."
The team at Drawbackwards has an uncanny knack for intuitively understanding how to frame and translate the values of our company into software and visual presentation in a compelling way. They always make us look and feel great in front of our customers!

Clarified their brand strategy to connect with customers and convey their story
Other natural food brands relied on lengthy stories and complex language to sell their products. Our team saw an opportunity to do something totally different for One Degree. We began by facilitating a brand strategy workshop for the One Degree team to help them clarify their purpose, understand their customers’ needs, and develop messaging that was as simple and sustainable as their products.
The crux of One Degree’s story is that people can trace where all of their products’ ingredients come from, so our team designed new packaging to bring that message to life. In addition to incorporating nature-inspired textures and branding, we helped them simplify the story into words their customers would understand, added a window where people could actually see the product inside, and included a QR code that they could scan to get details on the ingredients’ origins.
To continue the story, Drawbackwards then designed a mobile app that allows customers to scan the packaging at the point of sale and read the full story about where the ingredients come from. This app solidified One Degree as a true health food contender and helped them follow through on the promises they make to their customers.
In addition to the new packaging and app, our team designed supporting marketing materials that would assist in selling the product. We collaborated with the One Degree team to create a pitch deck, tradeshow booth design, as well as other collateral to gain buy-in and build credibility. As a result of our product development partnership, the company was able to tell the right story with the right design, which led to winning nationwide, auto-ship contracts with Whole Foods and Sprouts.
